Hi Beauties,
If your a fellow product junkie like me, or if your new to really taking care of your hair properly, you proably have bought tons of new products to try. However, did you know that using products, and products each week can build-up on your hair. Build up is when the hair has a sticky or gummy feeling, your conditioners or products seem to work less well, or the hair may be more prone to tangling. Build up occurs when the minerals deposits from water and / or hair products accumulates on your hair and regular shampoo doesn't rinse it away.
A clarifying shampoo may be required to remove it. Clarifying removes all things on the surface of the hair strands, essentially leaving the hair without moisture. Clarifying your hair can cause excessive drying of hair so always make sure you use a moisturizing conditioner afterwards.
In order to maximize the benefits of each product you need to start with clean, fresh hair. If your hair just does not seem to absorb moisture, it just seems to sit on top of the hair, leaving it very greasy, but still very brittle you may need to clarify. your products are not working the same you may need to clarify. There are many clarifying shampoos on the market, some people even like to use baking soda. However I like to use an organic Apple Cider Vinegar rinse. I usually just place 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water in a jug.
I clarify by using my normal shampoos; Keracare or Creme of Nature, and during the first lather I'll add my apple cider vinegar rinse mixture massage it in, let it sit for a few minutes, and than rinse. It works great, than I deep condition afterwards.
After clarifying my hair responds so well to all my leave-ins and moisturizers.
Don't Forget To Clarify..

Hi Lorraine,
As always I LOVE your site. You are so informative and thorough.
You're my hero.
I love ACV rinses. They make your hair so soft and tangle free.
Thanks for the advice. I need to clarify. How much of the rinse do you use? 1/2 cup of water 1/2 cup of vinegar?
Great tips. I always used ACV during my final rinse but this idea might work better for me.
Thanks.
You said to leave it in for a few minutes. How long is a few minutes? 3-5 minutes? 5-10 minutes?
